6/12/98-- EAST BOOTHBAY, Maine -- Roger F. Duncan of East Boothbay pours melted beeswax into the checks in his new schooner's foremast. The process is a method of sealing the wood, allowing it to absorb water in the summer when aboard and dry out in the winter while not allowing water i which might rot the interior. This process need only be done once. Photo by Roger S. Duncan.
