  • 1/14/11 -- Josh Walker bulls his way through the arms of Morse Sophomore Jordan Lister on Friday night on the way to a 52-30 win over the winless Shipbuilders. Mt. Ararat joined the club of those who have beaten Morse this season. To the Shipbuilders' credit though, they never gave up. With a few minutes to play in the 4th quarter, both teams benched the starters and let the JVs scrimmage.  Morse was as close as 8 points behind early in the second half, but it was never close.   • 10/18/10 -- BATH, Maine. Mt Ararat Forward Alden Talbot crashes in on Morse Goalie Grady Madden on Monday afternoon in Bath. The Shipbuilder offense sputtered against the unpredictable Eagles. Mt Ararat carried the pace of the game - forcing Morse's defense to step up often. 2 goals late in the first half were enough to carry Mt. Ararat to victory. Final Score 2-0.   Photo by Roger S.   • BATH, Maine --  Austin Lewis throws his hat in the air at conclusion of the Morse High School graduation June 8. he gave the commencement speech.   • May 8, 2009 -- BATH, Maine. Morse's Libby Williams is tagged out at in a steal attempt at third early in the game on Friday afternoon. Morse rebounded under pitching by Megan Hennessey and good base running throughout the game. The girls won their second in a row by blanking Leavitt 4-0 at home on Friday afternoon -- under a passing shower and a rainbow. Coach Will Laffely said, "They're a good group. They play practice hard and play hard." He noted that although they are 2-5 overall, they have a squad with no seniors and several returning sophomores and juniors as starters including junior pitcher, Megan Hennessey. Mt Ararat's Meghan Dano drives through Cony's Captain Holly Parker on the way to the net on Monday evening to score one of her several goals en route to a strong victory. At the half the score was 7-3 in favor of Mt Ararat. Between Meghan and her sister, Whitney, they had scored five of the seven Eagle goals and had contributed with an assist each as well. The Triathalon drew nearly 200 participants and over 100 volunteers to the Bath YMCA. Winners were Kurt Perham for the men and Alicia Trott, both of Brunswick.   • 4/12/09 -- BATH, Maine. American Kennel Club Judge Frank Washabaugh of New Jersey critiques the sniffing work of a dog in the Scent Articles event on Sunday morning. The Casco Bay Dog Training Club hosted an AKC All-Breeds Obedience and Rally Trial at Bath Middle School on Saturday and Sunday.  Nearly 150 purebred dogs of all skill levels competed in several categories over the 2-day event. In Scent Article, dogs are tasked with picking out the one unique item which has been handled recently by their human. Training Coordinator Marcia Welch of Edgecomb said, "This series of events requires the highest level of obedience. We consider it the Ph.D level of training and obedience." Photo by Roger S. Duncan.

  • 2/21/11 -- BRUNSWICK, Maine.  Scarborough swim coach Eric French, center, gives his girls relay team a shout of encouragement after their 3rd place finish in the 400 Freestyle relay. Scarborough finished an expected 6th overall, but was more successful in their times -- with many personal and team bests at Maine High School Girls Class A Swimming and Diving Championships at Bowdoin College on Monday night.   • 12/17/10 -- TOPSHAM, Maine. Mt Ararat girls celebrate after closing a 10 point gap to beat Cony at home on Friday night. Cony led 15-5 at the end of the first quarter - but Mt Ararat capitalized on Cony's many errors - and played scrappy defense through the entire game, tying at 34 late in the 4th quarter, and pressing on to win 45-42.
