  • May 8, 2009 -- BATH, Maine. Morse's Libby Williams is tagged out at in a steal attempt at third early in the game on Friday afternoon. Morse rebounded under pitching by Megan Hennessey and good base running throughout the game. The girls won their second in a row by blanking Leavitt 4-0 at home on Friday afternoon -- under a passing shower and a rainbow. Coach Will Laffely said, "They're a good group. They play practice hard and play hard." He noted that although they are 2-5 overall, they have a squad with no seniors and several returning sophomores and juniors as starters including junior pitcher, Megan Hennessey.   • August 25, 2007 -- PHIPPSBURG, Maine.  Lynne White, sitting, of West Springfield, Mass., works on a piece of Bobbin Lace with Jessica Strack, 9, of Reading, Mass. at the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Popham Colony on Saturday as Jessica's mother, Norma, looks on. Jessica made this piece of lace and was ready to keep it going.  "Jessica could do this herself anytime," said White, "She came back 2 days in a row and was ready to finish what she started yesterday," said White. "And she did a great job!" .White is a member of The Society of the 17th Century, an organization of 17th and 18th Century re-enactors. The group set up at Popham in order to provide a sense of what life might have been like in the Popham Colony -- which was founded in 1607 in present day Phippsburg. While the colony lasted less than a year, it was one of the first steps towards establishing permanent settlements of Europeans in North America. Photo by Roger S. Duncan.

  • BATH, Maine -- 10/8/14 -- Tyler Rowe of Enterprise Trenchless Technology Incorporated closes up a gas line trench across Washington St. in Bath on Wednesday with a weight compactor. Gas lines began going in on Aug 20. Washington St -- from Centre to Bowery St -- is complete and the company is now working their way down the side streets. In the foreground is the 2" gas line used to deliver natural gas to Bath homes. Equipment Operator Josh Worth said,<br />

  • 4/27/11 -- BRUNSWICK, Maine. Eliot Pitney, Coach of Bowdoin Women's Crew, drills his team on the new Meadows river in late April. Pitney has coached at Bowdoin for the last 4 years. and before that at Bates.  "This time of year," he says, " I'm ready to quit -- I'm just exhausted. But, give me a week off and then I'm right back at it -- ready to go for fall!"  Pitney, also working on a  Master's in Mechanical Engineering puts in about 12 hours a week on the water - not including trips to and from races. "It gets in your blood," he says of rowing.
